Kajol is one who has
embraced motherhood with glee. She was never desperate to return and sign
movies left, right and centre. After a five-year absence from the screen after
her son Yug was born, Kajol starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the 7th time
(alongside Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon) in Dilwale (2015). She played the
daughter of a mafia don who falls in love with a man from her rival
family. 3 years later, Kajol starred opposite Dhanush in a Tamil
flick Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, a sequel to the 2014 film Velaiilla
Pattadhari.
Now, Kajol awaits Helicopter Eela where she will be seen
as an over-indulgent mother and singer in Pradeep Sarkar's
Helicopter Eela, based on Anand Gandhi's Gujarati play Beta, Kaagdo. We caught
up with her at Novotel (Juhu) few days ago. Besides the film, the erstwhile
actress was extremely frank and forthcoming on varied subjects like- what kind
of a mother she is, what kind of a mother was Tanuja when she was growing up,
how does she find today's content in terms of stories and music, whether she is
choosy or is it that fewer films come her way now and her big patch up with
Karan Johar (the two had a major fallout sometime back).
We realised that the actress is not living in the past and welcomes change. We were particularly impressed when she gave her insight to why we don't have in-depth emotional movies, why is love so fluffy; 'You don't find people so madly in love these days, boys and girls who are ready to die for each other or will do anything for their partner'; what the actress meant was that films only reflect life.
